If you've ever listened back to yourself on your voice memo app and cringed, you're not alone.
Over 4,000 Americans were asked how comfortable they are hearing a recording of their own voice. And over 40% us don't like it. 27% said it makes them "somewhat uncomfortable" . . . and 16% of us HATE the sound of our own voice.
Interestingly, women were much more likely to say they hate it than men. Only 13% of guys said it makes them "very uncomfortable" compared to 20% of women.
I think it took ten years of doing radio for me to get used to hearing my voice. It was really tough when I was single. Imagine trying to get romantic with a woman and a commercial WITH YOUR VOICE for a funeral home or a diaper service comes on the radio.
Talk about a buzzkill.
