Infamous 'Tot mom' Casey Anthony launched a TikTok account to announce her intention to speak about legal advocacy issues "as a proponent for the LGBTQ community" and "women's rights" on Saturday (March 1).

Anthony, 38, was infamously acquitted of murder charges in relation to the death of her 2-year-old daughter, Caylee, and went into hiding upon her release from prison in July 2011, but said she now plans to speak out on her newly launched Substack account.

"This is my first of probably many recordings on a series I am starting," Anthony said. "I am a legal advocate. I am a researcher. I have been in the legal field since 2011, and in this capacity, I feel that it's necessary if I'm going to continue to operate appropriately as a legal advocate that I start to advocate for myself and also advocate for my daughter."

"For those of you who don't know, my name is Casey Anthony," she added. "My daughter is Caylee Anthony. My parents are George and Cindy Anthony. This is not about them. This is not in response to anything that they have said or done. … The whole point of this is for me to begin to reintroduce myself."

"Moving forward, the majority of what you will see will be me speaking in a professional capacity. My goal is to continue to help give a voice to people — to give people tools and resources they can utilize so they actually know where they can turn to," Anthony said.

"As a proponent for the LGBTQ community, for our legal community, women's rights, I feel that it's important that I use this platform that was thrust upon me and now look at as a blessing as opposed to the curse that it has been since 2008," she added. "I am proverbially standing in the light, embracing this piece, still going to keep my privacy intact…and I will explain in great detail why it's so important for people to protect their privacy. … With the current climate in our country especially, it's that much more important."

Anthony initially entered the public consciousness during the disappearance of her 2-year-old daughter, which led to a nationwide manhunt and resulted in Anthony's arrest after she was caught in several lies during the investigation. Anthony was at the center of public scrutiny when police determined that she'd spent the previous month partying, rather than looking for her missing daughter.

Caylee's remains were found in a wooded area near the Anthony family home six months later, at which point Casey was charged with first-degree murder. An estimated 40 million Americans watched at least part of the Casey Anthony Trial and the verdict was reported to have been viewed by nearly 100 million people globally.
