David Lee Roth might be "retired," but he's not quite done with music yet.
The Van Halen cofounder has just released a "studio live" version of him and his solo band performing "Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love," which you can hear via the player below.
Roth's version features Al Estrada on guitar, Ryan Wheeler on bass and Francis Valentino on drums. The track was apparently cut alongside 14 other songs during a mere two-hour session this past May at Henson Recording Studio in Hollywood.
"It's all live and it's Van Halen free," an unnamed source from Roth's camp told Van Halen News Desk. "No samples. No Auto-Tune."
Roth officially retired last winter when he canceled his farewell residency in Las Vegas due to COVID concerns. The singer has largely made himself scarce since then, with the exception of a statement addressing the Van Halen Tribute tour rumors and a brief conversation with a reporter at an airport this spring, during which he suggested that he isn't entirely certain about retirement.
Diamond Dave has also unveiled a cache of previously unreleased solo material, including the reflective "Nothing Could Have Stopped Us Back Then Anyway."
