Megadeth's Kiko Loureiro Joined By Marty Friedman On New Solo Track

Megadeth guitarist Kiko Loureiro just released a solo track featuring former Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman.

The song is called "Imminent Threat" and it comes from Loureiro's fifth solo album, Open Source.

Friedman is undoubtedly Megadeth's most famous alumnus, having played on the band's most successful albums during his decade-long stint in the band from 1990 - 2000.

Like every lead guitar player who has followed Friedman in the band, Loureiro says he's constantly compared to his predecessor. But there's not much higher praise you can get.

"I'm a big fan of his solo work and Cacophony and, of course, other Megadeth years, and I had a change to meet him two times and have great conversations about music and about life with him," Loureiro said in a statement. "I have some great musicians, guest guitarists on my new album, and guess what? Marty Friedman is one of them."

Loureiro's last solo album was released in 2012. He's been a member of Megadeth since 2015.

Open Source will be available everywhere on July 10. Check out the collaboration with Friedman in the player above!

Loureiro's first album with Megadeth was 2016's Dystopia which earned the band its first-ever Grammy award.

Megadeth began recording the follow-up to Dystopia earlier this month.
