Why February 29th Matters In Rock History

It’s February 29th and here are some reasons why this day matters in rock history:

In 1968, The Beatles’ “Sgt. Pepper” won Album of the Year, Best Cover and Best-Engineered and Recorded Album at the GRAMMY Awards.

In 1984, Foster the People singer and multi-instrumentalist Mark Foster was born in San Jose, California.

In 2000, Elton John stormed out of the opening of his new Broadway musical, “Aida,” after 15 minutes, complaining that his songs had been ruined. The Tonys disagreed since the play won Best Musical Score that year. The cast recording also won the Grammy for Best Musical Show Album.

And in 2012, Monkees member Davy Jones passed away at age 66 after suffering a heart attack at his home in Florida.

And that’s what happened today in Rock History.
